BFA Exhibition

well it finally happened! the show opened last night and I had a great turn out! Everyone had fun playing and reading the books I made. Its a bittersweet feeling having it all up, I am very excited and happy for the turnout, but I know I will be sad later when I have to take it all down. This BFA exhibition was one roller coaster of emotions and I loved every step of the way.  I had so much support from my family, friends, and professors and want to thank them all. Without them I could have not have done all of this. I will be posting my artist statement later.

BFA Review

I forgot to post about the BFA review that happened last Friday, it was great to hear feedback and suggestions from professors and peers. I also signed up for my solo exhibition, its the first week in March. Things are becoming finalized; its scary, fun, and exciting! I have a lot work to do, but I'm so happy with what I'm doing :)

Character Studies

these are the final 9 goddesses that I chose for my show! I decided I needed a break from making paper dolls and just work out problems before I make the dolls. Then I just put them in a poster. I don't know if I'll be keeping that format.

Bridgette

Another paper doll, in the same format of Adelaide, the Fox Goddess.  This is Bridgette, the Seal Goddess.  She works with the Irish myth of the Selkie, half seal and half human.  This selkie folklore actually helped me establish my idea of my Goddess series

the orgins of my idea

by the end of fall semester I started creating large paper dolls for my BFA show, I decided to go for a Goddess feel in the natural world,  creating an understanding of spiritually as a woman, and linking women with animals and techincally looking at the layout and what I can do to the backgrounds.  I was also experiementing on how to make my pieces interactive so people can dress the doll, I found that vinyl cling works with out any stickiness and I mount the doll on foamcore
-- I am still working on this idea for this semester for my show
